Pescado Viernes

"Fish Fridays", common to eat fish at home on Fridays, but fresh fish is abundant here in Colombia.
Food seemed like a good topic to write about today. Back at home, Friday is the day we order out at work. We are kind of missing the foods from home right now. I'm sure work ordered Fuddruckers hamburgers, because they usually do on days I'm not there...

I came back from my usual walk in the park with Ruben and Tracey had Mr Food up on the web looking at some good desserts. I told her she better quit, as it will just make her want it more. Actually the food here is pretty good, just different. The fish is served with head and tail attached. the circular yellow side items above are called "Plantano", it is similar to a banana, but common here and often times cooked or fried.

The streets here in Monteria are full of many vendors. This man had caught his fish on the nearby river "Sinu" and is selling them in town. Just down the street, there are vendors selling fresh fruit and vegetables. I bought a pina "pineapple" for 2,000 col peso's, which is about a dollar back home. It was 1,000 peso's, then the mother of the boy seen I was a "gringo", and told her son dos mil, instead of the 1,000 peso's he told me.

Our friends from Boston that are adopting a 11 month old little boy also brought Jacob their older adopted son from Guatamala. It is his birthday today, and we are going to celebrate with them tonight at our main eatery "Italia Piccolo's". I like italian, but eating it at least every other day is getting old. Our interpreter is going to take us tomorrow evening to a mexican place north of town that she knows. Not sure why, but Tracey and I have been craving it since we got here.

The latest update on our legal matters is that we are hopeful the judge will sign on Monday, then our attorney will have me go with her to sign, then she will take a taxi to Terrialta, where Ruben was born to get a birth certificate, then we have to wait for 3 business days before we can sign, which we are hoping will be next Thursday morning. Then we will have Ruben's adoption file and can fly back to Bogota for the final 4-5 days. This is if everything goes as planned, so we have our fingers crossed. Well that is about it for now. We get one main channel in Englsih, and it has all the CSI, criminal minds, las vegas, and similar shows from last season on it. By the end of our stay here, we will have seen them all. It does help pass the time by...
